Interior Decorating services for a Baby-on-the-Way
Abode Interiors created a cozy and warm baby nursery.
The Client Requests
Our Momma-to-be wanted a neutral color palette and cozy furnishings for her first baby-on-the-way. This client leaned toward a transitional, organic modern design aesthetic, so we worked to keep the nursery aligned with her tastes while adding warmth through the furnshings and accents.
The Color Palette
We did a fresh coat of paint throughout, Benjamin Moore Pale Oak on the walls and Benjamin Moore Simply White on the trim. The dark wood, bamboo flooring adding warmth to the cool tones of the paint.
We sourced a cute, fox portrait to add a pop of color to the space. We pulled colors from the painting to sprinkle a bit of color throughout the room.
We kept the furnishing aligned with the neutral theme. The baby crib is a light oak, grey-ish finished from Pottery Barn Kids. The dresser and rocking chair are a bright white with warmer accents to tie it all together.
We also added a grey, wood tone storage cube to compliment the wood tones.
The Functionality
Since this space would be relied on for all things baby, we wanted to be sure the room was functional for all the activities required for taking care of a newborn.
We added in this stylish white dresser which has ample storage space for baby blankets, burp cloths, and cotton bibs. The dresser was adorned with a baby changing pad in a cool, neutral color that matched the space.
Scattered throughout the baby nursery you'll find a variety of storage baskets. Ranging from cotton rope to straw jute, these storage baskets are a great way to organize baby supplies while adding style to the room.
Whether housing soft stuffies or organic diapers, the addition of storage baskets to the space added funtionality and style to the room.
A Space for Mom to Relax
Even though this is a baby's room, we wanted to make sure Momma would be cozy and comfortable during those long days and nights.
We sourced a beautiful, yet comfortable, rocking chair from Pottery Barn Kids. The classic rocking chair legs paired with the modern silhouette of chair complimented the organic, modern style our Momma-To-Be loved.
We paired the rocking chair with a storage cube, so Momma would have a place to hold all of the things she would require during those late night feedings.
A soft throw pillow and cute, knit ottoman make this spot even cozier for rocking baby to sleep.
